Duration of the (TANCET) Common Entrance Test is 2 hours.
The Entrance Test question paper shall consist of three parts.
Part-I and Part-II are compulsory and the candidates have to choose any
one subsection out of 14 in Part-III depending upon his specialization.
Part – I (Mathematics) :
This part will have 30 objective type questions and the candidates should
answer all the 30 questions.
Part – II (Basic Engineering & Sciences) :
This part will have 45 objective type questions and the candidates should
answer a minimum of 30 questions.
Part – III (Specializations) :
This part will consist of 14 subsections for various disciplines,
like Civil, Mechanical, etc.. Each subsection will have 40/45 objective
type questions. The candidates have to choose any one subsection depending
on his specialization, and to answer a minimum of 40 questions. All the correct
answers up to a maximum of 40 will be awarded 1 mark each and for all the
wrong answers 1/4 mark shall be deducted for each.
The syllabi for the 14 subsections of Part – III are given below and the questions will be set at the undergraduate level.

Each question will have 4 alternative answers. The candidates have to choose the correct answer and shade the appropriate small open box against each question in the answer sheet with a pencil/ ballpoint pen (black or blue).Every correct answer will be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong answer 1/4 mark shall be deducted. No deduction will be made for questions left unanswered. Multiple shadings will be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted.
